A Heavy Load

Good Tuesday morning, everyone. I hope you all had a good night’s rest and that you are refreshed for the day ahead. Me, well I am currently sitting in my husbands recliner wrapped up in a blanket in our dimly lit living room. It is a cold winters day here in north Texas. The only sound that can be heard throughout our home is that of the heater turning off and on, as everyone is resting comfortably in their beds.

As I sit typing this to you all, my mind is racing back and forth between the words of this blog post and our agenda for the day. See today, John, Morgan and I will be consulting with a physician in regards to a possible bone marrow transplant for Morgan. Although we are just meeting with the physician to educate ourselves and to ask questions,  I am a little saddened by the thought of it, to be honest.

See, our daughter, Morgan went through 3.5 years of treatment for Philadelphia (+) ALL, followed by 5 years of being in remission to be told that she relapsed in June 2018. She then restarted chemotherapy and underwent immunotherapy to be told last month that it did not work. Finally,  3 weeks ago she started a new chemo regimen that requires daily oral chemotherapy and weekly IV chemotherapy 3 weeks per month x 6 months. If this treatment plan is not effective, a bone marrow transplant would be the next step. That is, if a physician is willing to do it on her given her history of side effects, and if she is consenting.

That said, there is a lot up in the air for the Watson’s right now, and it is weighing heavy on this mom’s shoulders. Although I know the Lord is in control of it all, I just can’t help but be a little concerned. Please pray for clarity, direction, peace and comfort for us all.

Warmest regards,

Salina Watson

    1. Sometimes the only way to fully grasp the inexhaustible generosity of God is to look back, to recognize all of the ways He has abundantly provided.

So, when your wanting soul is met with doubt, let your past remind you that He provides. Let it envelope you with hope for your future, and let it speak to your heart with the assurance that with God, all things are possible.

  2. Prayers that you, John, Morgan, and the doctors make the right decision in regards to Morgan’s treatment plan. Our hearts are heavy with worry for Morgan. She is a fighter and we pray that if y’all go ahead with the bone marrow transplant, she will not suffer any side-effects and will be able to live a long and healthy life.
